But, did you know that our beginning with this town wasn't as cattle farmers?
It all started with a mine. The Burra Burra Mine.
After its foundation in 1845, Burra was an essential part of the South Aussie economy. Given the name "Monster Mine", the Burra Burra Mine helped thrust Australia into becoming one of the largest producers of copper in the world.
By 1851, Burra was the 7th most populated area on our continent - but its establishment was riddled with complications.
