Truck Driver - Livestock

We are currently on the lookout for a suitably experienced MC truck operator to join our growing fleet. 

This role requires a team player who is reliable, self-motivated, understands their NHVR compliance responsibilities and of course, enjoys driving and working outdoors. 

About the role

Long-distance cattle transport of various combinations both locally and interstate, including regular deliveries. Will suit operators willing to be away from home for regular short periods of time. Operators will be required to help loading and unloading cattle. 

About you
A successful candidate for the role must:

  • Hold a valid MC license,
  • Substantial driving experience (B-Double/Triple/Road Train), with contactable references,
  • BFM certification,
  • Have good communication skills,
  • Ability to identify potential faults and defects,
  • Responsible attitude caring for truck and trailer assets.

Princess Royal Feedlot are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, and competent livestock assistants who have a genuine interest in cattle to join the expanding feedlot livestock team in Burra South Australia.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Livestock health & welfare checks,
  • Cattle handling,
  • Loading and unloading cattle,
  • Processing and weighing cattle,
  • Treating and vaccinating cattle,
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties.

  • Cattle handling skills and ability,

Senior Farm Hand 

Are you an experienced farm hand looking to take the next step in your agricultural career? We are seeking Senior Farm Hand to join our cropping team in Burra, SA.

We are looking for someone experienced, motivated, and ready for their next challenge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planting, spraying and harvesting broadacre and fodder crops.
  • Operating and maintaining modern farm machinery (tractors, seeders, balers, harvesters, sprayers).
  • Monitoring crop health and addressing pest, disease, or nutrient issues.
  • Working as part of a tight knit team.
  • Supporting planning and crop rotation strategies.
  • Record-keeping and assisting in crop reporting and yield tracking.
  • Upholding WHS and environmental compliance on-farm.

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years of broadacre cropping experience (essential),
  • Strong machinery operation and maintenance skills,
  • Leadership and team supervision capabilities,
  • Ability to identify and manage soil, crop, and weather variables,
  • High level of physical fitness and willingness to work in the field,

Casual Harvest Farming Opportunities 

Seasonal Farm Workers

Princess Royal require several enthusiastic and hardworking individuals who have experience in machinery operation over the harvest period (Sept-Dec 2026, possibly longer).

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Farm Hand is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Farming Operations

  • Assist with harvesting activities in operating, moving and maintaining farming machinery and equipment.
  • Perform machinery and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with hay and silage preparation, production, harvest transport and storage as required.

Plant, Equipment & Maintenance

  • Undertake daily repairs, servicing and routine maintenance of farm plant, machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, tools and vehicles in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
  • Operate tractors, implements and earthmoving machinery as required.

Safety, Compliance & Reporting

  • Identify, report and address faults, hazards, incidents or unsafe practices.
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety, biosecurity and quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure records are completed accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment at all times.

General Duties

  • Assist other departments, including livestock, freight, feedlot and maintenance teams, when required.
  • Perform additional duties within skills, competence and training as reasonably directed to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications & Licenses

  • Current and valid HC license preferred not required.
  • Machinery tickets including front end loader, skid steer and telehandler.
  • First Aid certification (desirable).
  • Welding and/or fabrication training (desirable).

Princess Royal Feedlot is seeking a motivated and reliable Feedlot Feeder to join our team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a passion for livestock, and takes pride in playing a vital role in maintaining the health and wellbeing of our cattle.

About the Role

Reporting to the Feedlot Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

    • Feeding cattle in accordance with feed sheet specifications and management instructions.
    • Reading, interpreting and reporting bunk readings.
    • Preparing daily feed mixes.
    • Operating the feed mill, including basic maintenance and cleaning.
    • Operating machinery including front-end loaders and skid steers.
    • Carrying out cleaning and general feedlot maintenance.
    • Monitoring livestock health and promptly reporting any concerns.
    • Coordinating with the livestock team regarding cattle movements, arrivals, departures and cleaning schedules.
    • Maintaining high standards of Biosecurity, Quality Assurance and Workplace Health and Safety.
    • Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of livestock, fellow employees, visitors and yourself.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

    • Experience operating agricultural machinery such as front-end loaders, skid steers and trucks.
    • The ability to read and interpret feed sheets and conduct bunk calls.
    • Knowledge of silo operations and grain handling.
    • A current and valid driver's licence.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
    • A commitment to workplace safety and animal welfare.

Desirable Experience

    • Previous feedlot or livestock feeding experience.
    • Knowledge of feed commodities, feeding methods and feedlot operations.
    • Heavy vehicle operating experience.

Required Qualifications and Licences

Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain relevant licences and certifications required for the role, including:

    • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
    • Skid Steer, Front-End Loader and Forklift licences.
    • Heavy Vehicle Licence (where applicable).
    • Confined Space and Working at Heights training.
    • Current Chemical Handling accreditation.
    • Current First Aid Certificate.
