Truck Driver - Cattle

Princess Royal located in Burra South Australia (approx. 160km north of Adelaide) is are currently on the lookout for 2 suitably experienced Livestock Truck drivers due to an increase in our fleet. 

These roles require a team player who is reliable, self-motivated, understands their NHVR compliance responsibilities, and of course, enjoys working outdoors with cattle.

About the roles

The roles will suit drivers willing to be away from home for periods of time as the work consists of long-distance livestock transportation both locally and interstate. Drivers will be required to help loading and unloading cattle, so livestock experience is preferred.

About you
A successful candidate for the role must:

  • Hold a valid MC Licence
  • Provable driving experience (B-Double/Triple/Road Train)
  • Be willing to travel away from home for periods of time
  • BFM Certification
  • Have experience with cattle/livestock
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Ability to identify potential faults and defects

Animal Health Assistants

There are several newly created opportunities opening at the growing Princess Royal Feedlot facility for Livestock Assistants specialising in animal health.

These roles require team players who are reliable, self-motivated and enjoy working outdoors with cattle.

Expected duties will include:

  • Diagnosis of animal health symptoms with an emphasis on animal welfare,
  • Administration of animal health treatments
  • Maintaining accurate records of animal treatments and stock movements
  • Daily livestock handling duties
  • Maintaining compliance with Princess Royal’s policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, QA, Animal Welfare & Environmental obligations
  • Acclimating and exercising cattle
  • General yard duties, including cleaning

Both cattle handling experience and a current Drivers Licence are essential. The ability to ride a quad bike is highly desirable. 

Any other licences or tickets are advantageous.

Livestock Assistant

Feedlot Feeder & Machinery Operators

We are currently looking for flexible, mechanically minded team players to join our expanding feedlot division.

About the role

Main duties include; feed preparation, cattle feeding duties, and pen maintenance.

Key duties and responsibilities -

  • Operation of tractor/feed mixer wagon
  • Pen maintenance with heavy machinery 
  • Operation of Loader, handling of commodities
  • General feedlot maintenance

All applicants should process the following attributes:-

  • Ability to operate and service machinery
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
  • Follow WH&S policies & procedures
  • Ensure Animal Welfare standards are upheld
  • Basic computer skills
  • Motivated to work alone and part of a diverse team

About you

  • Heavy machinery operations experience
  • Previous experience in tractor and loader operation
  • Skidsteer/Telehandler tickets (Desirable)
  • Hold a minimum HC truck licence (Desirable)
  • Agricultural experience (Desirable)

Livestock and Commodity Administration Officer

Princess Royal is currently seeking a great communicator who is efficient and organised to assist with general administration duties with a particular focus on livestock and commodity management. Duties may also include weighbridge operations and grain handling duties at times. 

This rare opportunity is a full-time role based in our Feedlot facility, approximately 160km north of Adelaide.  

About the Opportunity:

This newly created role will be responsible for providing important administration, data entry and record-keeping tasks across the business. Some of the duties will include: 

  • Record and monitor stock levels and days on feed
  • Cattle related data entry into Princess Royal’s preferred systems
  • Utilising Agridigital to input and monitor fodder movement throughout the business
  • Filling out paperwork for exit cattle: NVD’s, MSA & NFAS declarations
  • Updating and monitoring NLIS Database
  • Reconciliation of multiple databases,
  • Ensuring records are kept in accordance with legislation and procedure
  • Liaise with suppliers as required by mill manager
  • Weigh incoming and outgoing freight on the weighbridge
  • Daily communication with feeders and livestock staff of the feedlot 

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in a team support role working in a busy environment and have a passion for agriculture. In addition, you will demonstrate:

  • Effective verbal communications skills and a team player
  • A proactive approach to work and practical organisational skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to identify ways to improve internal processes
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook & the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Understanding of NILS database, NVD’s, MSA & NFAS declarations (Desirable)
  • Proven experience with Agridigital software (Desirable)
