Feedlot Livestock Assistant 

We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic, and competent livestock assistants who have a genuine interest in cattle to join the expanding feedlot livestock team.

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Livestock health & welfare checks,
  • Cattle handling,
  • Loading and unloading cattle,
  • Processing and weighing cattle,
  • Treating and vaccinating cattle,
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties

  • Low-stress stock handling techniques,
  • Cattle handling skills and ability,
  • Ability to identify ill or injured livestock and treat and or act accordingly,
  • Holds a valid and current car licence,
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually as required,
  • Willing to work flexible and extended hours as required.

Senior Farm Hand

Princess Royal today incorporates around 70000 acres in the Mid North of South Australia. we are looking for a full-time senior farm hand to assist the cropping manager and team in all areas of the cropping department, including seeding, spraying, hay, silage and harvest as well as other tasks. 

 Ideally the successful applicant would enjoy working as a part of a team as well as independently, be mechanically minded, safety conscious, and have prior experience.

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Must hold a current car licence that is valid, in order to perform some of the duties required of this position.
  • Must hold current HC (Heavy Combination) licence
  • To operate tractors and machinery must hold the relevant recognised tickets including but not limited to; loader, skid steer, forklift.
  • To perform work at heights must hold a current recognised certificate.
  • To enter confined space must hold a current recognised certificate.
  • Must hold current and relevant chemical certification.
  • Hold a current ‘Viterra Safety Card’

Feedlot Manager - Burra SA

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Feedlot Manager to join the Princess Royal Group. Located in Burra, 2 hours north of Adelaide, the 13,500 SCU feedlot is the centerpiece of a diverse farming group incorporating low stress, purpose-built cattle handling facilities, grain processing and storage facilities, broadacre farming, freight, and maintenance divisions.

The Feedlot Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Princess Royal Feedlot operation, including cattle handling, feeding, milling, administration, and maintenance. The manager will be hands on and take ownership and accountability to operate a profitable feedlot with support from our other divisions and their dedicated personnel.

The ideal applicant will have prior experience, with the expertise that can complement and grow the existing operation, ensuring long term success.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of beef cattle feedlot operations,
  • High level communication and people skills,
  • Effective problem solving,
  • A positive can-do attitude,
  • An appreciation for data, quality, livestock health and compliance
  • Good mechanical knowledge

We are currently looking for flexible, mechanically minded team players to join our expanding feedlot division.

About the role

Main duties include feed preparation, cattle feeding duties, and pen cleaning and maintenance.

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Operation of tractor/feed mixer wagon
  • Pen maintenance with heavy machinery 
  • Operation of Loader, handling of commodities
  • General feedlot maintenance

  • Ability to operate and service machinery
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
  • Follow WH&S policies & procedures
  • Ensure Animal Welfare standards are upheld
  • Basic computer skills
  • Motivated to work alone and part of a diverse team

About you

A successful candidate for the role must:

  • Heavy machinery operations experience
  • Previous experience in tractor and loader operation
  • Skidsteer/Telehandler tickets (Desirable)
  • Hold a minimum HC truck licence (Desirable)
  • Agricultural experience (Desirable)

Casual Harvest Opportunities!

Princess Royal require several enthusiastic and hardworking individuals who ideally have experience in weighbridge operation, grain unloading/flow monitoring, grid operation and grain testing to fill roles over the harvest period (Nov-Dec 2023) at our grain storage facilities at Andrews, Burra, Booborowie and Farrell Flat.

Grain Testers & Weighbridge Operators

  • Experience in sampling grain received on site (preferred)
  • Knowledge of weighbridge use and understanding of mass management (preferred)
  • Experience in monitoring the flow of grain from truck unloading and onto hopper, auger, or other equipment (essential at some locations)
  • Competent in computer usage  
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • First aid certificate desirable

The type of work you undertake depends on the skills, experience, knowledge and tickets or licenses you hold as well as the requirements of the site at which you are based.
