Truck Drivers - Cattle

We currently have an exciting opportunity opening in our freight division for not one, but two suitably qualified and experienced MC truck drivers with an anticipated start in October 2020.

About the role

The role is a full time, permanent position. It will suite drivers willing to be away from home for periods of time as the work consists of long-distance livestock transportation both locally and interstate. Drivers will be required to help loading and unloading cattle, so livestock experience is preferred.

About you

A successful candidate for the role must:

  • Hold a valid MC Licence
  • Provable driving experience (B-Double/Triple/Road Train) 
  • Be willing to travel away from home for periods of time
  • Have experience with cattle/livestock
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Ability to identify potential faults and defects

An opportunity has arisen as the business expands its interest in intensive sheep operations. The role is fulltime and is located in Burra, SA (approx. 160km north of Adelaide). This role requires a team player who is reliable, self-motivated and enjoys working outdoors with sheep.

Expected duties include:

  • General sheep work
  • Water runs and basic maintenance
  • Livestock feeding
  • property maintenance as required

The desired applicant would have a minimum of 2 years sheep handling experience, have a current driver licence as well as experience with loader and tractor operation. A motorbike licence would be highly desirable.

The applicant will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical; they must also have a current police check for employment.

Feedlot Feeder & Machinery Operators

We are currently looking for flexible, mechanically minded team players to join our expanding feedlot division.

About the role

Main duties include; feed preparation, cattle feeding duties, pen maintenance and general feedlot maintenance.

Key duties and responsibilities -

  • Operation of tractor/feed mixer wagon
  • Feed dispersal to livestock
  • Operation of Loader, handling of commodities
  • General feedlot maintenance

  • Ability to operate and service machinery
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
  • Follow OH&S policies & procedures
  • Ensure Animal Welfare standards are upheld
  • Basic computer skills
  • Motivated to work alone and part of a diverse team

About you

  • Preferably have experience feeder duties
  • Previous experience in tractor and loader operation
  • Skidsteer/Telehandler tickets (Desirable)
  • Hold a minimum HC truck licence (Desirable)

Feedlot Livestock Assistant

Located in Burra South Australia (approx. 160km north of Adelaide) there is an opportunity opening at the Princess Royal Feedlot facility for a Livestock Assistant. This role requires a team player who is reliable, self-motivated and enjoys working outdoors with cattle.

Expected duties will include:

  • Cattle handling & movement
  • Induction of cattle,
  • Weighing and drafting cattle
  • Operation of the indicator
  • Basic data entry
  • General cleaning and maintenance
  • Cattle health assessments 
  • Treatment of ill or injured cattle

Both cattle handling experience and a current Drivers Licence are essential. The ability to ride a quad bike is highly desirable. 

Any other licences or tickets are advantageous.

These roles require team players who are reliable, self-motivated, understands their NHVR compliance responsibilities and of course, enjoys working outdoors with cattle.

About the role

The role will suit HC/ MC licensed drivers living locally (or wanting to relocate) who have experience in general freight including the operation of tippers and low loaders for grain and hay cartage.
